Surging stock prices and steady home-price increases have finally allowed Americans to regain the $16 trillion in wealth they lost to the Great Recession. The gains are helping support the economy and could lead to further spending and growth.
The recovered wealth - most of it from higher stock prices - has been flowing mainly to richer Americans. By contrast, middle class wealth is mostly in the form of home equity, which has risen much less.

What a surprise. Not!!

For some reason it seems to fit a city of corruption. The only reason it's not Detroit is because the Dems didn't leave enough of it to have bedbugs. ;-)

I saw a list of bedbug infested cities once and commented they were all run by Democrats!

Apparently New York state wants to lead the way in defying the Constitution.
Mid Hudson News · February 21, 2013 ·
YORKTOWN -- State Assemblyman Steven Katz (R-Yorktown) blasted a proposal by Assemblyman Felix Ortiz (D-Brooklyn) to require that all firearms owners buy $1 million insurance policies.
The proposal comes on the heels of Governor Cuomo pushing the passage of his gun control law, which among other provisions, will outlaw ammunition magazines that home more than seven rounds.
Katz, himself a licensed gun owner, blasted the new insurance proposal.
"This is doing nothing but hurting not only abiding citizens, it's putting another noose -- tightening the noose yet again against law abiding citizens who want to do nothing more than enjoy their Second Amendment right," Katz said on Wednesday.
The assemblyman also raised the issue of law abiding gun owners who cannot afford the insurance.
Under Ortiz's proposed legislation, lawful gun owners would have 30 days to purchase insurance once the bill is enacted.
At present, the proposal is a one-house bill, but Katz said it is anyone's' guess if the Senate would approve it.

Btw, how will insurance hinder murder? It won't. It will only make gun ownership impossible except for a few. I believe that Hitler also did this, limit gun ownership to a few.

This is a crock!

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration is quietly considering urging the Supreme Court to overturn California's ban on gay marriage, a step that would mark a political victory for advocates of same-sex unions and a deepening commitment by President Barack Obama to rights for gay couples.
Obama raised expectations among opponents of the Proposition 8 ban when he declared in last month's inaugural address that gays and lesbians must be "treated like anyone else under the law." The administration has until Feb. 28 to intervene in the case by filing a "friend of the court" brief.

I've never seen this before. I didn't even know about it.
Went to fill propane tanks for a small heater and a truck pulled in with a bumper sticker that said: "I don't trust the liberal media".
I asked if he'd ever heard of Free Republic. He said "No". I told him that we lost a server and were down right now but keep trying. He kept repeating "Free Republic" so he wouldn't forget. lol

That's great, DJ. I wonder if we should more outreach, advertising about FR. There are many folks that think the way we do.

I have found that some people are afraid to talk about Obama, or speak against him. I "fish" before telling anyone.

IIRC, this song was featured in "Valley of the Dolls." Lots of memories of Dionne Warwick songs from my youth - Bacharach and David. Great stuff, even if she got a little weird later.

She did some excellent music. I listen to it and ignore everything but her voice. It seems that people "in the business" mostly get a lot weird. There are some sane people but they don't hang around Hollyweird.

It will be found an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it.
Can't get anything to post on FR. Now I can't even get in. Terribly frustrating. lol
Don't forget that unemployment is down and Obama is NOT a dictator!
Yup! Forgot!
But today's headline is :In a rising economy, politicians look for credit LOLOL
