Apparently New York state wants to lead the way in defying the Constitution.

YORKTOWN -- State Assemblyman Steven Katz (R-Yorktown) blasted a proposal by Assemblyman Felix Ortiz (D-Brooklyn) to require that all firearms owners buy $1 million insurance policies.

The proposal comes on the heels of Governor Cuomo pushing the passage of his gun control law, which among other provisions, will outlaw ammunition magazines that home more than seven rounds.

Katz, himself a licensed gun owner, blasted the new insurance proposal.

"This is doing nothing but hurting not only abiding citizens, it's putting another noose -- tightening the noose yet again against law abiding citizens who want to do nothing more than enjoy their Second Amendment right," Katz said on Wednesday.

The assemblyman also raised the issue of law abiding gun owners who cannot afford the insurance.

Under Ortiz's proposed legislation, lawful gun owners would have 30 days to purchase insurance once the bill is enacted.

At present, the proposal is a one-house bill, but Katz said it is anyone's' guess if the Senate would approve it.

Btw, how will insurance hinder murder? It won't. It will only make gun ownership impossible except for a few. I believe that Hitler also did this, limit gun ownership to a few.
